About this Event
In 2023, organisations are looking to re-energise their early talent programmes, building on plans formed last year as the world emerged from a pandemic which disrupted our youth at a critical point in their education.
Two years of skill scarcity have been the conduit to new investment in emerging talent – hiring them, developing them. It’s all about creating your own experts. Whether for graduate programmes, apprenticeships, or ad hoc youth employment, growing your own talent is probably an integral part of your talent strategy this year.
Our 2023 Emerging Talent Summit will bring together Talent Acquisition leaders and senior Early Career professionals to explore successful strategies and new developments in the recruitment and retention of early careers talent. This thought-provoking event includes expert speakers, panel Q&As and peer discussion.
In roundtable discussions will explore topics such as:
- Evolving your culture to retain early talent and slow the pace of attrition
- The criticality of employer brand in grabbing the attention of GenZ
- Redefining early talent programmes to build careers rather than offer placements.
Introducing our 1st Speaker: Shan Nelson-Palmer, Head of Early Careers
Introducing our 2nd Speaker: Johanna Smith, Entry to Work Manager, Essex County Council
Johanna is currently the Entry to Work Manager within Essex County Council Resourcing Team. She has the privilege of being responsible for ensuring all their entry pathways are embedded into the organisation to ensure they meet their strategic aims whilst actively engaging with younger residents.
She takes pride in her a small and perfectly formed team, (50% are apprentices themselves) who oversee the operational side of the recruitment. Her background has always been in recruitment, originally in the agency world, then in-house for an automotive consultancy and most recently within Essex County Council.
Essex County Council won the Early Career Pioneer Award at the 2022 Talent Acquisition Tiaras. “The judges were impressed with how Essex County Council’s “Entry to Work” Team drove change and took a holistic approach to bringing in all types of early talent and how it’s now embedded in their day to day running.”
